Organised in February 2025 @ Burma Shell Basti, Pune
The surge of joy that is in every child, woman or person, even in the underprivileged community, can be felt when they showcase and live their imagination through arts and literature.
This is what the aWrt festival is all about.
This festival is a display of stories and identities of the children that were made on their own.
We let the people blossom – handhold and encourage them to take charge and find support wherever they need it. The aWrt festival is the celebration of people’s creativity, newfound confidence in themselves and the joyfulness of their lives.
From their Heart
“The most important lesson I learnt is that there is no right or wrong in art. I learnt what subjectivity is, which transformed the way I create art now.” – Prateeksha, Child from Burma Shell Basti, Pune.
“When I am not doing schoolwork, I search for sketches by popular artists on Google, and try to recreate them” – Misba, Child from Burma Shell Basti, Pune.
“We are glad that she has this opportunity to learn art within the slum” – Misba’s Parent
“Burma Shell slum’s youths to shine at art and music fest.”
“झोपडपट्टीत राहणाऱ्या या मुलांना अपेक्षा आहे भरपूर अन्नाची, सन्मानाची, त्याहूनही अधिक प्रेमाची. कलेच्या माध्यमातून ते हेच सांगू पाहतात. या मुलांना हवे ते रेखाटण्याचे, बोलण्याचे नैसर्गिक स्वातंत्र्य मिळते.”
“The future of our nation lies in every child’s dreams. As HR leaders, our role extends beyond boardrooms—to unlocking potential, nurturing inclusion, and creating opportunities where none existed. By investing in underprivileged children, we don’t just transform lives—we build a stronger, more equitable tomorrow.”-Aman Rajabali, President, NHRDN Pune | Chief Enabler, Samiksha Social Initiative
“The children’s perspectives evolved from basic queries about drawing techniques to deeper discussions about capturing what they want to convey through art” -Kajari Mitra, Founder of Bhagyashali Bhavishya Shiksha Foundation
